LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Kevin Daley, R-Lum, issued the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling that overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision:
“I am proudly pro-life, and I celebrate the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.
“This is a victory for all those who believe in the precious miracle of life. This ruling will return the issue of abortion to the states, which also marks important progress for state’s rights.
“I know that there are millions of Michiganders who will disagree with this decision today. I intend to work with people on all sides of this issue to find common ground, rather than fueling division and conflict in our state. It is my hope that we can come together to agree on the importance of celebrating life and supporting Michigan families.
“My office is still reviewing the specifics of the opinion, and there are still lawsuits in the courts regarding Michigan’s abortion law. I will continue to monitor this fluid situation and continue to represent the families of the 31st Senate District as best as I can.”
